Historical Data

The Columbine history data includes only stock identification information (name, ticker, CUSIP or SEDOL, and country code) and the appropriate Columbine model rankings. Because of restrictions in our agreements with our data suppliers we cannot include historical returns, prices, dividends, or other basic company data.

There are two types of databases of historical Columbine model rankings:

Published rankings - These files document model rankings as published and delivered each week to our clients in a particular year. Company names, tickers, and CUSIPs are recorded as they were listed at the beginning of that year.*

Research rankings - These files report monthly model rankings computed after the fact in our research database. In effect, these are backtest rankings, but they do provide more years of test data for newer models that may have only a year or two of published rankings. Research ranking data also can provide rankings from prior years based on the current version of a model rather than the different re-optimized versions that were actually used in the past. Company names, tickers, and CUSIPs are recorded as they were listed at the time the research data was acquired.

Research Rankings for our domestic models cover the Columbine 1500 Universe. Published Rankings are available for all stocks in our Total US Universe. The table below sets out the years of rankings available for each model.

*Please note: we did not start systematically storing our published rankings in their present standardized form until 1991. Several of our models (the Columbine Alpha Factor, for example) actually had been published for many years prior to 1991. Although we do not have these older rankings readily available in our databases, a complete history of every ranking made by Columbine Capital Services is available for inspection in our offices.
